Enact Win Cornwall Sustainability Award
Energy Consultancy Receives Coveted Accolade
Cornwall based energy consultancy, Enact Energy Management Ltd, has won first place for the much coveted title of Best Managed Medium Business at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards, in recognition of the company’s fervent and thorough approach to sustainable practice through every aspect of the business, from water and energy usage through to purchasing choices, support of the local economy, and services offered.
The 6th Annual Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2008, held on Friday 5th December at the newly built Pavilion Centre at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge, was well attended by award nominees from the 7 categories. Featuring guest speaker Melanie Chiswell of Tesco’s and TV presenter and environmentalist, Dick Strawbridge MBE, the event was a wonderful occasion and buzzing atmosphere of like-minded individuals striving to preserve, protect and progress Cornwall’s sustainability.
Paul Johnson, Group Operations Director at Enact, comments on the award:
“We are truly delighted to receive such an honourable accolade and acknowledgement of our sustainability. The competition across all categories was very tough, which is wonderful, as this just goes to show the forward thinking and innovative companies that operate within our beautiful County, all of which possess the untied ambition of keeping it that way.”
Sponsored by Cornwall College Business, the award for Best Managed Medium Business was contested by four other worthy shortlisted challengers; Newquay Zoo, Primrose Valley Hotel, the Monkey Sanctuary and Celtic Sheepskin. Setting Enact apart from the nominees was the businesses sustainable approach through all aspects of the company, both through internal operations through to its famed services provided to individuals and organisations to promote energy efficiency, cut energy costs and reduce carbon footprints.
Enact is the company behind the 12 year established Heat Project, through which all households, private tenants and residential landlords qualify for a free or heavily discounted grant for loft and cavity wall insulation. The installation of such insulation measures are recognised to reduce annual fuel bills by up to £365; a vast improvement on a household’s energy and financial outgoings.
Continuing the theme of insulation and energy efficiency, Enact has recently set up a scheme with major retailer Tesco’s, the Tesco Home Insulation Service. Through this service Tesco customers can also qualify for free insulation or pay a price of £198 per measure plus gain Green Clubcard points on their energy efficient home improvement purchases.
In every aspect of business Enact considers its potential impact on the environment and uses its best efforts to counter this through pro-active measures. This approach transpires and is reflected through Enact’s services, resulting in a truly sustainable business and one worthy of the Cornwall Sustainability Awards nominated title of Best Managed Medium Business.
